GRADES


There are five grades of Professional Individual Members (PIMs) who are entitled to use the following titles, according to their respective class of membership:

Honorary Fellow HFIMA (No applications for this category)
Fellow FIMA
Member MIMA
Associate Member AMIMA
Student Member NA

The highest standards will be maintained while granting membership to various categories, to project a professional image.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA


HONORARY FELLOW

The AIMA Council of Management confers Honorary Fellowship on eminent persons. No applications are called for this category.


FELLOW

(i) Management Professionals or equivalent with an illustrious management career and significant contribution towards management profession through management publications / research, faculty contribution, participation in AIMA activities, etc. outside the sphere of employment. The applicant should necessarily be a Professional Individual Member in "Member Grade".

(ii) He / she should fulfill one of the following:

 Management Professional as Chief Executive in Public / Private Sector Enterprises with turnover of Rs. 60 crores and above.

 Management Professional as member of Board of Directors in Public / Private Sector Enterprise with turnover of Rs. 100 crores and above, or General Manager in Public Sector Enterprise having a turnover of Rs. 500 crores and above.

 Senior Public Administration Official as or above the rank of Joint Secretary in the Government of India, or equivalent.

 Defence Services Official of the rank of Major General or Equivalent.

 Academician of Professor Grade in management or related areas, in high standing recognised educational institute.

 Technical or Legal Professional / Chartered Accountant / Cost & Works Accountant / Secretary, of repute.

The above criteria are only guidelines. There may be cases where the Council may consider granting Fellowships to persons who do not meet the above criteria. The decision of the Council in granting Fellowships will be final.


MEMBER

This grade is open to senior management professionals or equivalent, policy makers having wide managerial responsibilities. Applicants should fulfill following eligibility criteria :

(i) Should have attained the age of 28 years.

(ii) Should be one of the following:


 Executive / Senior Public Administrator / Defence Services Official / academician in management or related areas with 7 years experience

 Technical or legal professional / Company Secretary qualified from Indian / equivalent foreign institution, with 7 years of experience

(iii) (iii)Degree / Diploma in Management from AIMA or a recognised University or extended functional management course from a recognised body



ASSOCIATE MEMBER

This grade is applicable to middle management professionals or equivalent who expect to occupy senior management positions in due course of their career. Applicants should fulfill the following eligibility criteria :

(i) Should have attained the age of 21 years.

(ii) Should be one of the following :

 Executive / Public Administrator / Defence Services Official / academician in management or related areas, with one year of experience

 Technical or legal professional / Chartered Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary qualified from Indian / equivalent foreign institution, with one years of experience

(iii) Degree / Diploma in management from AIMA or a recognised University or Institution; or general management course from a recognised body



STUDENT MEMBER

This grade is applicable to students undergoing professional full time course in Management from recognised /reputed institutions. This membership may subsequently be upgraded to a higher grade, after completion of the management programme, or as and when eligible. Applicants should fulfill following eligibility criteria:

(i) Should be graduate in any discipline from a recognised University

(ii) Should be undergoing MBA Programme or any full time functional management programme from a recognised University or Institution


NOTES

 Management consultants, officials of trade associations, chambers of commerce and industry, etc. may be selected if judged suitable on the basis of past experience, nature of present assignment / achievements and contribution to the cause of furtherance of the management profession.

 Persons who have been Associate Members (AMIMA) for 5 years or Members (MIMA) for 15 years, and have actively participated in all the activities of AIMA may be considered for upgradation to Member or Fellow respectively. Upgradation is not automatic and should be separately applied for.

 These eligibility guidelines are only illustrative, indicating the broad requirements for admission of members to various grades. The actual evaluation is, however, left to the Fellowship and Membership Committees and the AIMA Council, whose objective is to fully satisfy themselves about the suitability of the applicants vis-à-vis the professional standards of AIMA.

ENROLMENT


To apply for membership, please fill in the appropriate Application Form in duplicate, and send it along with Demand Draft for the amount of entrance fee and annual membership subscription, directly to the Membership Division of AIMA.

After the application has been scrutinised by the AIMA Secretariat, the Council will consider it. Thereafter, the applicant will be intimated regarding the admission, giving the grade of membership to which admitted, and the date of admission.

New members are enrolled on a financial year basis. Members admitted between April and September shall have to pay full year's subscription, whereas those admitted between October and March shall have to pay half year's subscription. In both cases, entrance fee shall have to be paid in full. List of all new members shall be published in the 'AIMA News'. An annual list of members in each grade will also be published.

RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES


The membership of AIMA is a recognition of the applicant's achievements as a manager and commitment to the cause of the management profession. It gives a chance to establish valuable contacts with other members, exchange ideas and information and represent issues of common concern at local and national forums. The member is entitled to a whole range of management services and development activities directed towards enhancing professional and managerial skills. He / she is also entitled to special privileges in various business services. These include :

 The rights and privileges of the Association in accordance with the provision of Memorandum of the Association, Rules and Regulations and the Bye-laws. These rights and privileges will be non-transferable by his / her own act or by operation of law.

 Use of the membership titles by placing it after his / her name in abbreviated form, stated in accordance with his / her grade of membership, namely, HFIMA, FIMA, MIMA, AMIMA.

 Member Certificate signifying grade of membership and date of admission.

 Every member (except Student) will have the right to be elected to the Council of Management of the Association on the basis of an All-India election by the Members.

 Attend and participate in the meetings, discussions, film shows and other such programmes, which are organised by AIMA or by its affiliated LMAs from time to time.

 Information regarding Management Development Programmes conducted by overseas management associations is made available by AIMA. Preference is given to members of AIMA in sponsoring participants for such programmes.

 Free of charge copy of AIMA's monthly journal 'Indian Management' and bi-monthly AIMA News.

 Free of charge copy of journal or other free publications of the LMA to which affiliated.

 All priced publications by AIMA or LMA to which affiliated will be made available to members at concessional rates.

 Complimentary membership of AIMA Library.

 Reference and rental facility for books, journals, monographs etc. (including postal rental facility for outstation members).

 Abstract and computerised bibliography service.

 Documentation service at nominal charges.

 Sale and rental or management films at nominal charges.

 Membership data for the concerned grade.

 Special discount rates on purchase of books from AMEXCEL Bookshop.

 Discounted rates on new membership of the Automobile Association of India.

 Reciprocal membership facilities to visiting AIMA Members to the countries of Asian Association of Management Organisations.

NOTES

 All subscriptions and entrance fee will have to be paid only by a bank draft drawn in favour of ALL INDIA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, payable at New Delhi. Cheques will not be accepted.

 Subscriptions are subject to review from time to time by the Management Council of AIMA, without prior notice to the members.

 Senior citizen members over 65 years of age will be charged 50% of subscription fee.
