BEST B SCHOOL SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE "new"
ABOUT THE SURVEY
In our endeavor to encourage management education in India and provide
authentic information to all its stakeholders, All India Management
Association (AIMA) conducts an annual survey on the “Best
Business Schools” in India.
AIMA’s objective to undertake this survey is purely in keeping
with its mission to enhance the professional management in the country.
The Survey of B-Schools is totally objective, unbiased, transparent
and helps benchmark the management institutes in addition to providing
authentic information to all the stake-holders.
In 2000, a high-powered committee, comprising academicians and professionals
from business and industry, decided the parameters on which B-Schools
were to be rated, and the weights that were to be assigned to each
of these parameters for arriving at the final ratings.
While deciding the weightages for each parameter, AICTE norms laid
for the Management Schools were strictly followed. The parameters
on which B Schools are rated mainly includes:

Intellectual
Capital

Admissions
and Placements

Infrastructure

Industry
Interface

Governance
A structured questionnaire is designed keeping in view the above
parameters.

METHODOLOGY
The survey is designed for Business Schools approved by the All
India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) / Universities.
RESEARCH AGENCY
The ratings have been conducted with the help of IMRB International,
a leading Research Agency in India, and published in AIMA’s
Indian Management in Association with Business Standard.
SURVEY METHODOLOGY
STAGE 1 : SENDING AND RECEIVING THE QUESTIONNAIRES
The questionnaires are sent to all approved B-Schools, who are requested
to revert with the completed questionnaires to either IMRB or AIMA.
Each completed questionnaire is thoroughly scrutinised for missing
and misrepresented data, if any. The data is checked versus the
previous years' figures to discover and subsequently validate any
major changes. Following this, a query sheet is generated for and
cross-checked with each institute, through e-mail, phone or personal
visits.
STAGE 2 : VALIDATION
The second phase of the study is a rigorous validation exercise.
The validation and backchecks are done physically for all the A+,
A, B+ and B category institutes which amount to 50% of all the participating
institutes. The changes in the information obtained from these personal
visits are noted, and after senior authorities at the institutes
verify these changes, the institutes’ scores are revised accordingly,
where applicable. Thereafter, the final scores for each institute
are generated.
RATING METHODOLOGY
All participating institutes are rated into three categories - A,
B and C. These are further subdivided :

Category
A is divided into A+ and A

Category
B is divided into B+ and B

Category
C is divided into C+ and C
Subsequently, within each such category, the institutes are divided
into two groups, one for the “Better Performers” within
that group, and the other for the institutes figuring at lower positions
within the group.
All B-Schools in each sub-group are listed alphabetically to make
it impartial. No ranks are given in the survey. The B-Schools are
divided into broad bands with the top 10-15 B-Schools given a special
mention as "Super League".
PUBLICATION
The "Best Business Schools" Survey is published in AIMA’s
journal ‘INDIAN MANAGEMENT’ every year.
