Director General's Message

Dear Students,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the students of AIMA. I hope you had a wonderful and fulfilling learning experience. It also gives me great pleasure to welcome those who have recently joined the academic community at AIMA. The credibility of an institution is always determined by the quality of its students and I have no doubt that you will all do very well indeed.

It gives me a warm feeling that AIMA has had another outstanding academic year and nearly 1500 students received their management diplomas and certificates this year. I am sure AIMA would continue contributing to creation of large pool of management talent that our growing economy needs.

AIMA’s centre for Management Education has been putting efforts to make management education more accessible and effective. CME received an extension of the approval for its Post-Graduate diploma programmes from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). In addition, Distance Education Council(DEC) also approved AIMA’s   Post Graduate Diploma, Post-Graduate Certificate, and Advanced Certificate in Management Programmes.

AIMA has launched an e-Post Graduate Diploma in Management (e-PGDM) programme on the e-Learning platform in collaboration with Hughes Communications India Ltd. I look forward to your active participation and support in all our programmes and events.

Your feedback is valuable for us and I would like to invite you to write back with thoughts and suggestions that we hope will take AIMA to new heights.

Director’s Message

Dear Students,

I would like to start my editorial with positive note by informing that companies are back in the expansion mode and they are hiring management graduates in large numbers. Importantly, this hiring boom is not just a knee-jerk reaction to economic recovery after the slowdown of 2008-09. The increase in demand for managers is a long-term trend.

The GDP growth rate is expected to climb back to 8.5 per cent level this year after dropping to below 7 per cent a year ago. That means, there will be a massive economic expansion in the economy and there will be a huge need for management graduates to run business operations. To provide the benefit of these positive economic changes, AIMA-CME placement cell is actively facilitating management graduates to be a part of India’s management pool. We have redesigned our placement activities by creating employer and students’ zone on AIMA-CME website. Regular placement information is uploaded on website. Further to make our graduates employable, CME is also organizing series of workshops on soft-skill techniques

Also, to ensure that AIMA students get their due in the job market, CME ensures that its diploma and certificate programmes remain updated and meet the stringent quality standards set by government agencies.

This year too, CME received an extension of the approval for its post-graduate diploma programmes from AICTE, and the DEC also approved AIMA’s post-graduate diploma, post-graduate certificate, and advanced certificate in management programmes.

It is my pleasure to inform you that CME achieved a significant improvement in efficiency which has benefited the students. Efficient examination and evaluation processes of CME ensured that the term-end examination results were announced faster, which allowed more study time to the students in the next semester.

Our current and previous result analysis shows that students require more comprehensive learning in papers like quantitative methods, Accounting & Finance and operation management. In this academic session, we are also planning to offer special module of these papers along with foundation course to meet the aspirations of diverse-students.

AIMA Alumni Association organized a workshop on ‘Application of Research Methodology Techniques in Project Work’ for the benefit of Module-IV students of PGDM & PGDITM.  We are looking forward to organize such workshops also in this academic session

AIMA-CME’s Programmes Rule Book and Programme Guide are available online from July 2010 session. for easy student access

AIMA’s 15th Convocation was held on 7 August 2010 at in New Delhi. This was addressed  by Mr M Damodaran, former chairman SEBI and Mr R C Bhargav, chairman, Maruti Suzuki.

Mr. R.C.Bhargav in his key note address exhorted to young graduates that they needed to avoid the entitlement mentality that some MBAs develop and focus on managing resources and people more efficiently.

Mr. M. Damodaran, in his convocation address told the young graduates that they needed to look at starting businesses and create jobs for less qualified and not just seek the highest paying job around.

This year, 1,191 students achieved their Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) while 111 students finished their Diploma in Information Technology and Management (PGDITM).  Also, 185 students received their Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) and Professional Diploma in Management.

I would also like to welcome new batch of PGDM, PGDITM, PGCM and ACM.

Editor’s Message

Dear Students,

A very warm welcome to all the new entrants to the AIMA family and also our existing students progressing to higher modules. For the past one and a half year online communiqué student newsletter has played a critical role in conveying a review of various activities taking place in CME.

Excelling in education and transfer of knowledge is only possible through maintaining a strong research culture. I am glad to inform you that very good research articles have started poring from more and more students for Student Desk. I expect that their articles will give an in-depth description of some of the exciting research topics.

Under the placement column, we have a pre-placement form. All new admissions are requested to fill up the pre-placement form and mail it to the placement manager at placement@aima-ind.org

I hope you will enjoy reading this issue and we welcome your feedback on any aspect of the newsletter which helps us to make it much better in terms of awareness, reliability, and sophistication.

Best wishes for new session!
